The Brigid Alliance Client Engagement Program FAQ

Wave
  • What is the Client Engagement Program? The Client Engagement Program is meant to give our clients a chance to provide feedback about our services and tell their stories safely and comfortably.
  • What kind of feedback? Between our initial intake call and the time you get home, there are many steps along the way. We’re always striving to improve and understand how you think we could make any of those steps better. This includes a review of our services and a review of your experience with the clinic where you had your procedure. The survey should take 5-10 minutes to fill out. Any information you share in the feedback form will be confidential and you’ll be compensated $60 for your feedback.
  • What does storytelling mean? Storytelling is the best way to raise awareness about The Brigid Alliance’s services and destigmatize abortion. We’ve worked with clients in the past in a range of ways from social media graphics, to short videos, to media interviews. For any work related to telling your story, we compensate at a rate of $60/hr.

We also have many options for how you can tell your story:
    • Writing a blog, email, or helping us create a social media graphic
    • Video/Photo that tells your story visually
    • Media interview on a podcast, for a magazine or newspaper, or a TV interview. For any media-related storytelling, you’ll have media training and a briefing with our team to get you ready for the interview
  • How will I be compensated for the feedback survey or for any storytelling activities I help with? We can accommodate whatever tool you’re most comfortable with. We use apps like Venmo, CashApp, Zelle, and more with our clients and can use a similar app for this compensation. Compensation would be provided after an activity is completed.
  • I’m not comfortable with having my full name in public, can I still tell my story through the program? Yes! Our goal is to make sure that you feel comfortable throughout the process. If you want to be credited as “Anonymous”, we can do that. We can do your first name with your last name’s initial. We can modify it as you need in order to feel comfortable. You can also learn about some other digital and social safety tools below.
  • What if I tell my story and then change my mind? We totally understand. If you’ve told your story via social media or video that we have on our social media or website, and you want it taken down, you can just email your contact at the Brigid Alliance and they’ll make sure the content is taken down. We can only remove content on our own channels, so if your story was told on a media interview or podcast, we cannot guarantee that we can get it taken down but will of course reach out to the reporter to try and get it taken down.
  • Once I tell my story, will you be able to use it without me knowing? No. Each time we create an asset (video, graphic design, media story, etc) using your story will be a separate project. For example, if we partner to create a video telling the story of your experience with The Brigid Alliance that is used for an email to our email list, that would be one project. If we wanted to make edits to the video for use on YouTube or in a Facebook campaign, that would be a separate project and we’d reconnect with you to make sure you’re comfortable with the way your story is being shown.
  • Are there any risks to telling my story publicly? It is possible. Once a piece of content is online, anyone can read it or watch it. It is entirely possible that the content could attract negative attention which is why we give storytellers the option not to have their name be public or tell their stories in a way that doesn’t show their face. Additionally, you can read our privacy policy for tips on protecting your privacy.
  • What is the time commitment for storytelling? The time commitment is totally up to you. Different projects may take different amounts of time. Designing a social media graphic with a quote from you about the services you received might take an hour or two between email/text/phone conversations and any edits from you. Taping a testimonial video would take longer to do the taping and revisions. If you wanted to sit for a media interview, we’d provide media training and talking points which might take an hour and then you’d speak to the reporter which could take an hour. Because you can choose the activities you want to take part in, the time commitment is truly up to you.
  • Will I meet other storytellers? Currently, we don’t have a guaranteed event where you can meet other storytellers. We are brainstorming different options like online meetings or periodic in-person retreats.
  • Are there any other resources you can provide for storytellers? Yes, we will provide the following resources for anyone who joins our storytelling program:
    • DeleteMe: This is a tool that will remove any public information about you from Google to help maintain privacy
    • Repro Legal Helpline: They can support you in answering any potential legal questions and even provide legal aid if needed.
    • Exhale Pro-Voice: A helpline for nonjudgmental after-abortion support.
    • Media Training: If you want to participate in an interview (newspaper, magazine, podcast, or TV), we’ll facilitate media training with a partner.
